How To Stop Breast Milk

How To Stop Breast Milk
Question
Help! My daughter gave birth 4 days ago, and the baby died. The nurses said they had nothing she could take, as it could dry her milk up for future babies. She is in terrible pain, and is putting ice packs on her breasts and wearing a snug sports bra. Is there anything else she can do?
Answer
I am very sorry for your family's loss. Best wishes for future children!
The best way to dry up breast milk is cold cabbage leaves. Go to your local grocery store or farmers market, and grab a huge head of fresh cabbage. She can put one or 2 leaves per breast in her bra, and that should help dry her up. Instead of the tight sports bras, try wrapping her breasts very tightly with an ace bandage or some type of binding brace. Restrict the ability for the milk glands to fill up as much as possible. Also, keep in mind that when the baby was born she only had colustrum, and that will hang around for a day or so until her real milki comes in, so she is have to fight her body on producing her actual milk, which always takes longer to dry up than if she had nursed for a period of time.
hope this helps! Best wishes.
